In a bid to accelerate its push into retail wealth management, Citizens Financial Group has hired a former First Republic private wealth executive who briefly led broker recruiting efforts prior to the San Francisco-based bank�s collapse last year.
Thomas B. Metzger, a 16-year industry veteran who had been with JPMorgan Chase since it purchased First Republic�s assets last spring, joined Citizens as head of private wealth managers in December, a Citizens spokesperson confirmed. He is expected to woo experienced brokers in part by promising referrals of high-end clients from Citizens Bank.
